An Alaskan social media climber has died after plummeting from the famous vertical rock face, a renowned granite cliff in California's Yosemite National Park.

The 23-year-old climber, twenty-three, was live-streamed on TikTok climbing up and then plummeting from the massive rock on midweek.

Through a heartfelt social media post announcing her son's death, his mother expressed: "My heart is broken in a million pieces. I don't know how I will get through this. I love him so much. I want to wake up from this awful nightmare."

Details of the Incident

Specifics of what caused the incident are unclear, but his sibling a family member revealed he was engaging in solo climbing with a rope - a method that enables solo ascents while remaining secured by a rope - on a 2,400ft route named the Sea of Dreams route.

After completing the climb and was hauling up equipment when he likely rappelled off the end of his line, Dylan said.

Tom Evans who observed Miller fall said he dialed 911 after Miller tried to retrieve his backpack, which was snagged on a rock.

Climbing History of the Young Climber

Originally from Alaska, the young alpinist grew up climbing with his father and sibling.

He was an accomplished alpinist and gained global recognition for achieving the initial solo climb of Denali's Slovak Direct, which took him 56 hours to complete, according to a post on his social media in June.

"He experienced probably one of the most impressive recent half-year of alpinism of any climber I can recall," veteran alpinist Clint Helander informed a publication in July.

A second famous Alaskan climber Mark Westman compared him to the famous free soloist, who was the first person to climb without ropes a complete path on the granite wall.

Recent Achievements and Nickname

The climber had spent weeks solo climbing in Patagonia and the Canadian mountain range, completing a extremely challenging ice climb named the Reality Bath route, which had been unrepeated for over three decades, as reported by a climbing publication.

He was referred to affectionately as the "Orange Tent Guy", due to his distinctive campsite at the base of El Capitan.

The Granite Monolith and Yosemite Incident History

El Capitan, an enormous sheer granite rock face of roughly 915 meters, is a major landmark in the national park and entices elite climbers from all over the world.

This tragedy marks the third at the California park in the current year. In early summer, an 18-year-old from the southern state lost his life in the area while climbing without a rope on a separate rock.

And in late summer, a young adult hiker died after being struck in the skull by a sizeable tree branch.

Investigation

Park authorities said in a statement that they were investigating the event and "officials and emergency personnel acted promptly."
