Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
