New England tied their best victory streak from the Tom Brady era as they overcame AFC East rivals the Jets 27-14 in the NFL

First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the New England squad claimed an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season

Quarterback Drake Maye accumulated 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws

The win bolsters the New England's lead at the summit of the division as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after falling to two wins and eight losses

The opposing team had scored first at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to finish the New York's first possession

But the home team responded in the second period as Henderson ran in two short rushing scores before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Maye at the rear of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7

"It was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of Henderson. "He desires to be outstanding."

Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales booted a two kicks in the final period as the home side closed out the win

Game Summary

  • New England continue victory run to eight matches
  • Rookie Henderson stars with three scores
